The Dolomites as a Natural Heritage
Since 26 July 2009, the Dolomites have been recognised by Unesco as a Natural World Heritage Site for Humanity. The Pale Mountains, with their majestic spires, the white walls and the verdant valleys are in fact the custodians of an age-old beauty and ancient witnesses of by-gone times. When the slanted rays of the sun reflect on the Dolomite tops at sunset or dawn, one can admire the phenomenon of the so-called Enrosadira [becoming rosy]: an explosion of colours that tinges the sky and the rocks a spell-binding red. Today the Dolomites are a natural landscape that simply has to be seen and protected.
