Discover the routes and activities to do in Canazei with the little ones
In the mountains of the Val di Fassa, every day offers special opportunities for those travelling with children. Nature becomes play, discovery and curiosity. Easy trails, adventure parks, encounters with animals and workshops show a world of colours and scents. In summer or winter, the valley offers lively experiences, full of freedom and little moments to remember.
Easy walks and paths for little explorers
A great way to discover the Val di Fassa with children is to walk, choosing easy paths that allow you to enjoy the fresh air and landscapes without too much effort. Even those travelling with pushchairs or small children will find flat and comfortable stretches, surrounded by spectacular views.
One of the most pleasant routes starts in Canazei and follows the cycle path to Campitello, skirting the Avisio torrent. The path is wide, well-maintained and almost always flat, surrounded by green meadows and the scent of the woods. During the summer, it is also perfect for cycling, thanks to the various rental points in the village and nearby areas.
Those who prefer more alpine environments can choose the walk around Lake Fedaia, at the foot of the Marmolada. The route, which is flat and about an hour and a half long, offers splendid views of the crystal-clear waters and peaks all around. It is also suitable for small children, although in some sections the path narrows near the shore and requires some attention.
Another popular destination for families is the Sentiero delle Marmotte, above Alba di Canazei. It is a short path, but full of glimpses between meadows and rocks, where you can often catch a glimpse of marmots peeking curiously out of their burrows. For children, it is a special opportunity to observe these cute animals in their natural environment.
Those who fancy a longer hike can head for the Contrin Refuge, starting from Alba. The route is a little more demanding, and not always suitable for a pushchair, but it offers the satisfaction of crossing streams, waterfalls and mountain meadows, in a true dive into the nature of the Dolomites.
Adventure parks: fun in the trees
For children who want adventure as well as walks, the Val di Fassa offers many opportunities to experience the mountains in a more lively way. In Pera di Fassa there is the Piciocaa Adventure Park, an ideal place for those who love climbing and putting themselves to the test. Amongst Tibetan bridges, suspended walkways, ziplines and aerial courses, there are activities designed for all ages, starting as young as 2 years old.
The park does not only offer suspended trails. There is also a pond, giant slides, farm animals and picnic areas, perfect for stopping for lunch outdoors or just relaxing. It is a place where you can spend carefree hours, and even organise small birthday parties surrounded by greenery.
Also near Canazei, there is no shortage of spaces where children can have fun. In the village centre there are several playgrounds with slides, swings and shady areas where they can rest a while. Every village in the valley, from Campitello to Pozza, has its own small playground, which is always well looked after and safe: a great way for the little ones to let off steam or take a break during the day.
Water games, wellness and relaxation
In the centre of Canazei is Dòlaondes, a modern aquatic complex with indoor pools, slides and water games, ideal for every occasion, even on rainy days or cold winter evenings. In addition to the traditional pools, there is a wellness area reserved for adults, while children can play safely in dedicated areas.
In Predazzo, further away but still accessible, the modern municipal swimming pool offers play areas for children, slides and baby pools, designed to entertain the whole family.
In the cold months, the Val di Fassa turns into a great white expanse. The Canazei Fun Park then becomes the ideal place for those who do not ski: here you will find inflatables, treadmills, bobsleigh tracks, toboggans and tubing, an easy and fun way for children to discover the snow without the effort of skiing.
Culture and tradition on a child's scale
Between a walk and an afternoon in the open air, why not take a leap into history? At the Ladin Museum of Fassa, in Vigo, culture turns into play: interactive rooms and visual paths immediately capture the attention of the little ones. Everyday objects, traditional costumes and videos tell how life was in the valley many years ago.
A stone's throw away, the Marmolada Museum talks about the Great War in the mountains. Here older children find tunnels to explore and real finds from the glaciers, an experience that leaves its mark.
And in summer? The malghe open their doors with hands-on workshops: milking cows, making butter, following the production of cheese. A simple and fun way to learn while playing and return home with a special memory.
Discover the Val di Fassa, a territory which adapts to every need
In the heart of the Dolomites, the Val di Fassa and Canazei invite you to explore a territory which speaks to anyone who loves nature. Walks, adventure parks, Ladin traditions and games on the snow: there is everything to build a tailor-made trip, without limits of age or expectations.
Here, the mountain becomes more than just a spectacular backdrop. It is a living stage, ready to offer moments of discovery, emotion and memories to take with you forever.
