Two unmissable events for bike and mountain lovers alike. The Dolomites will be closed to traffic for a few hours on Saturday 13th June and Saturday 27th June 2020. Why not join the fun at the Dolomites Bike Day and Sellaronda Bike Day.
Dolomites Bike Day
This internationally renowned event will take you on three Dolomite mountain passes, Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola, and some 51 km of road. The roads that connect the Ladin valleys of Val Badia, Livinallongo and Ampezzo will be closed to traffic and reserved for cyclists only.
This non-competitive event will be open to bike enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, with no need to register or sign-up. You only need to be able to control your speed of descent and always keep to the right. Anyone can safely experience the thrill of cycling the mountain passes that are part of the great history of cycling in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You can also choose a route that is best suited to your skill level and ability. Along the way, you are sure to meet others of your ability, with whom you can share advice or even arrange other bike rides together. The roads will be full of road bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes, tandems, vintage bikes and bikes pulling children’s trailers. In short, everyone is welcome.
Bike route from Alta Badia
If you decide to start from Alta Badia, the route will take you around Mount Lagazuoi. At the beginning, you will need to overcome a fairly gentle ascent to the Campolongo Pass before descending towards Arabba. After a short stretch on the flat to Pieve di Livinallongo, the road climbs up to the Falzarego Pass and to the top of the Valparola Pass. Returning to Alta Badia, you will have to negotiate the hairpin bends of the Valparola Pass.
Route from Arabba
Following a similar format as the Dolomites Bike Day, another non-competitive biking event in the heart of the Dolomites will take place on Saturday 27th June 2020. We are of course talking about the Sellaronda Bike Day, an event that is being held for the fifteenth time this June and that every year attracts more than 22 thousand male and female cyclists of all ages and abilities from all over the world. If you are looking for breathtaking scenery at a pace that won’t leave you gasping for air, the Sellaronda Bike Day is perfect for you!
Sellaronda Bike Day
Following a similar format as the Dolomites Bike Day, another non-competitive biking event in the heart of the Dolomites will take place on Saturday 27th June 2020. We are of course talking about the Sellaronda Bike Day, an event that is being held for the fifteenth time this June and that every year attracts more than 22 thousand male and female cyclists of all ages and abilities from all over the world. If you are looking for breathtaking scenery at a pace that won’t leave you gasping for air, the Sellaronda Bike Day is perfect for you!
Between 8:30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., the 55-km route will take you around the Sella group and along the Sella, Gardena, Pordoi and Campolongo mountain passes.

Just as at the Dolomites Bike Day, common sense also applies here: control your speed on the downhill and keep to the right. This will ensure that even our smallest participants can safely enjoy a wonderful day in the heart of nature.
Before embarking on this adventure, choose the route that is best suited to your ability and skill level. Remember that the length of climb will be different depending on where you start. For example, a total ascent of 1,936 m awaits from Selva Val Gardena, 2,030 m from Canazei and 1,637 m from Corvara or Arabba.
